It is with sadness that we share the news of Louise Hews-McGilvray’s passing in Québec city on Sunday, July 9th 2023 at the age of 91.
Born in 1931 in St-Jean, Québec, daughter of late Jeanne Lord and late Mervyn Hews and beloved wife of late Andrew McGilvray.
Sister of late Simone (late Robert-Rousseau) and late Anne (late Pierre Savard).
Aunt to : Louise Quenneville (Michael Avery), Robert Rousseau (Jacqueline Blair), Anne Savard (feu Léon St-Arnaud), Hélène Savard (Louis Lavoie), Marie Savard (Daniel Sheedy) Andrée Savard (Luc Noël), Renée Savard (Danny Lessard), Robert McGilvray (Laura Penner), William McGilvray.
Grandaunt to : Matthew, Nicholas, Lindsay and Jenna Quenneville; Chloé, Chanel, Corey and Cody Rousseau; late Catherine and late Philippe Dansereau; Simon and Julien Lavoie; Anne, Frédéric and Dominique Sheedy; Sarah and Julie Noël; Lisa, Colby, Alex and Taylor McGilvray.
Great-grandaunt to : Nathan, Jakob, Maeva, Naomi-Rose, Nickson, Tommy, Alden, Ada, Anna, Elodie, Benjamin, Félix, Clara ,Henry, Cohen, Finn, Walter, Callum, Sebastian, Juliette, Charlotte and Frank.
Louise also leaves many friends : Céline Tremblay, Solange Ouellet, Michèle Charland, Michel Donato, Madeleine Lemoyne, Lisette Lebeau, Monique Guèvremont and many more. Without forgetting Irène, Viateur, Francine, Pauline, Colette of the Château Bellevue- Val-Bélair, Louise’s last living environment that she really appreciated.
The family wants to thank Lisanne Lavoie for her reassuring presence and her kindness during Louise’s last years in Montreal. The family wishes to thank the Palliative care team of the CLSC de la Jacques-Cartier notably her doctor Dre Michèle Lavoie, her nurse Karine, her care attendant Myriam and also her family physician Dr Guy Chouinard of the Charlesbourg Medical Center. The family also wishes to recognize the exceptional support of our night guardian angel, auxiliary nurse Line from the Michel Sarrazin’s team.
Special thanks to the Oncology team of the Hotel-Dieu de Quebec hospital and to the Foyer de Charlesbourg-Palliative care unit for their sensitiveness, their respect and the quality of their care.
The family will receive condolences on Saturday, September 30 th 2023, at 10 a.m. at the funeral parlour Kane & Fetterly 5301 Décarie boulevard, Montreal, Qc, H3W3C4.
A ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. in the annexed chapel and will be followed by a reception where the family will be happy to greet you.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hear Entendre Québec (hearhear.org), to the Cedars Cancer Foundation (www.cedars.ca) or to a charity of your choice.
