84, of the Town of Mount Royal, passed away suddenly on October 14, 2023 after a brave four-year battle with dementia (progressive aphasia). Anne Rowen (nee McGinn) was born in Philadelphia, and later moved with her family to Pittsburgh and New York City. At the age of 13, her father was transferred to Montreal where she attended Saint Augustine of Canterbury School. She remained in Montreal for the rest of her life.
Anne is survived by her husband, James, and her three sons: John, Peter, and David (Antonietta); and her four grandchildren: Matthew, Emma, Francesca, and Gabriella.
Anne graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing in 1960. She practiced this vocation at St. Mary's Hospital and Northern Electric. Anne then devoted her time to raising her three children. In 1984, she switched careers and became a real estate agent, a field for which she was very passionate about until her retirement in 2017.
Anne was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening. She valued family get-togethers for all occasions and had a supreme sense of community, especially in the Town of Mount Royal. She treasured beach vacations to Cape Cod while her children were growing up. She later enjoyed lots of mostly European travel, alongside her husband, Jim, with whom she would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on October 26, 2023.
Her friends and family will remember Anne as a caring, successful, and generous soul who touched the lives of many, and by her infectious and magnificent smile.
The family will receive condolences at Kane & Fetterly Funeral Home, located at 5301, Décarie Boulevard, on Friday October 20 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at the Annunciation of Our Lady Church, located at 1020, Laird Boulevard, on Saturday October 21 at 11:00 a.m.
