Amy Eisenberg Shulman was born on June 17, 1936 in New York City. She attended Hunter College in NYC for two years. At the age of eighteen, at summer camp, she met Arthur Shulman, a Montreal Law student, and thereafter, at the age of twenty, they were married and Amy moved to Montreal. After 20 years of marriage, Amy and Arthur divorced.
In Montreal, Amy completed an MSW program at McGill University, taught social work as a professor at McGill University, and was a social worker at the Jewish General Hospital. Amy was a creative, intelligent woman, a voracious reader, spiritual, and had a continual thirst for knowledge. She enjoyed being a group leader at Thomas More Institute. She was also a talented artist who took great pride in her stunning hand carved stone sculptures. Later in life, she joined the Westmount theater group, and acting became her passion.
Amy Shulman lead a full life. She loved Montreal and especially Mount Royal … the exquisite view overlooking the city.
On November 7, 2023, at the age of 87, after struggling for a year with various medical problems, Amy peacefully passed away. She is survived by her sister Judy A. Greenberg, brother-in-law Larry, her nephews David, Danny and their families. Every year she visited the United States to celebrate a family Thanksgiving … she will continue to be with the family in spirit.
