Jeannine Bourassa Lawlor died peacefully, surrounded by her children on November 19th, 2023.
Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Jeannine moved to Montreal with her family as a young woman, where she met and married her life partner of over 50 years, William (Bill) Lawlor.
Mom was a life-long learner, channeling her creativity and dedication into raising her children; Greg (Ruth), Adrienne (Peter), Krista (Stephen), and Dana (Simon). She consistently provided both “roots and wings” for her children, ensuring that they knew they could accomplish anything.
Mom took immense pleasure in her beloved grandchildren, truly lighting up as “Nana” to Jamie, Maya, Liam, Hannah, Josh, Michael, Alex, and Elliott. Mom was a devoted sister to Paul Bourassa (Elaine) and George Bourassa (Susan), a loyal friend to many and a committed community volunteer.
Although very humble, Mom was consistently high achieving in all her endeavors, completing her master's in library sciences at McGill University, and working as a well-respected medical librarian at St. Mary’s Hospital for over 15 years.
Mom expressed her creativity through her passion for gardening which extended to landscape design, systematically transforming many green spaces into beautiful oases. Over the years, Mom explored several creative pursuits including watercolor and stained glass art, in addition to being an accomplished pianist.
Mom’s “love language” was primarily creating for others, sewing many of our clothes, including outfits for special events and knitting stunning and complicated pieces. Through her own example and her patient and consistent support, Mom passed on her skills and values to her children and grandchildren.
Our sincere thanks to the team at Sunrise Beaconsfield for their care over the last five years, and to everyone at the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence. We will be forever grateful for the peace and comfort you brought to Mom’s final days, and to our family as a whole.
Mom will be deeply missed; we will carry her in our hearts always.
In Mom’s memory, please consider a donation to support the Teresa Dellar Palliative Care Residence (https://residencesoinspalliatifs.ca/en/ ), or any organization that serves those in need.
A celebration of Mom’s life will be held at a future date.
