Paul Lee

1952 - 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Lee, on January 22, 2024 at the age of 71.

Born in Montreal on January 26, 1952, Paul was many things throughout his life. As a young boy and a teenager, he worked as a waiter at his father’s restaurant, Lee's Garden. Later, his love of music led him to become a part-time DJ, sneaking in a dance or two with his high school sweetheart, Hilda Gönye, who eventually became his lifelong partner. A strong ambition to own his own business led him to become a successful entrepreneur. He passed on his love of golf, skiing and hockey to his children and grandchildren and took immense pleasure in playing these sports with them as well as cheering them on from the sidelines. He appreciated good food and loved to share a meal with loved ones as well as introducing his friends to his favorite Chinese restaurants. He travelled the world, both for work and pleasure, alone and with family, but perhaps the most meaningful were the annual trips to Smugglers Notch, Vermont, where quality time was spent with family. He gave back to his community in Greenfield Park and supported many local charities by playing in their golf tournaments and by volunteering to hand out Christmas baskets.

He will forever be remembered as a strong but kind and gentle man, a loving brother, husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed life and always had a way of making people laugh. He loved life and was always up for anything and everything. He will live on through our cherished memories spent with him. We will miss him immensely, but take comfort in knowing he has joined his late wife, Hilda Gönye, and his parents, Gin Lee and Yok Sim Lee.

He is survived by his 5 children, Debbie, Bobby (Brenda), Sandy, Amy (Dan) and Brian, his 5 grandchildren, Matthew, Davin, Emma, Wilson and Norah, his sisters, Nona (Daniel), and Day's, his niece, Amanda, his nephew, Samuel, his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Boltz, his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Gonye, and his furry friends Parker, Bumps, Boris and Calvin.

Visitations will be held on Friday February 9, 2024 from 5:00pm - 8:00pm at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 Chemin de la Forêt, Outremont, H2V 2P9.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to either the McGill University Health Centre Foundation, the Charles-LeMoyne Hospital Foundation, or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated
