Victor Kaydanov
1934 - 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Victor Israilevich Kaydanov, beloved husband, brother, father, and grandfather, on February 2, 2024, at the age of 90.
Victor was born in Leningrad, USSR, on January 1, 1934, to Eugenia Liberova and Israel Kaydanov. He married his wife, Irina, in 1961 and they had two children: Evgeniy and Tatiana. Victor was a loving and caring son, husband, brother, father, and grandfather. He graduated from St. Petersburg Polytechnique Institute in 1955 and continued working at his alma mater as a scientist, a professor, and a department chair until 1993, when he immigrated with his family to the USA. There, he continued lecturing and research work at the Colorado School of Mines and served as a principal scientist in two private renewable energy enterprises. Throughout his career, Victor distinguished himself as a brilliant scientist and inspiring teacher. He was loved, respected, and admired by his colleagues and pupils. He had many friends and was known for his kindness, personal charm, and encyclopedic knowledge. He was an avid reader with remarkable memory and a great storyteller.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024, at 2 pm at Mont Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 Chemin de la Forêt, Outremont.
