Jeffrey George Vautour, BCom, CPA

1995 – 2024

It is with extreme sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Jeffrey George Vautour in Montreal on September 9, 2024 at 29 years of age.  Jeffrey was the beloved son of Theresa and George Vautour and cherished brother of Michelle.  His passing is also a great loss to his entire family as well as friends and work colleagues.  He was a highly intelligent, articulate, athletic, loving and generous human being.

Jeffrey lived life to the fullest. He grew up in Whitby, Ontario and was a gifted student and multi-sport athlete.  He was reading books suited for a 12-year-old when he was 5 and riding 2-wheeler bicycles at 4 years of age.   In school he completed the French immersion and gifted programs. His quest for knowledge and reading books was insatiable. He won many academic awards through his elementary and high school years.  He was in the top of his class at Sinclair High School in Whitby and was considered a very popular student and a leader.  He participated in many extra-curricular activities including the model United Nations teams, the jazz band and orchestra.  He was very musical playing both the trumpet and guitar.

His father can clearly remember him playing “taps” at his school’s assembly on Remembrance Day.

Jeffrey was offered many academic scholarships to universities and ultimately decided to attend McGill University where he graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting).  He subsequently obtained his Chartered Professional Accountant designation and was a member of the CPA Quebec Order.

Being perfectly bilingual, Jeffrey worked in Montreal over the last seven years first at EY and then KPMG.

Jeffrey loved to participate in sports from a young age. Throughout elementary and high school, he participated in soccer, judo, hockey and track.

He played select hockey for several years including with the Whitby Wildcats.

Once at McGill University, he focussed on track where he was on the Varity Track Team for four years.  In 2017, he was on the Quebec Provincial Gold Medal 4 x 200 metre relay team.  He continued to run and coach, with the individual 400 metre race being his specialty.  He achieved his personal best in the summer of 2023 while running for the Saint-Laurent Select Team.  He was ranked in the top 100 runners in Canada and regularly ran at the Canadian Track and Field Championships.  Jeffrey was committed to regular exercise, a healthy diet and lifestyle.

Jeffrey was a friend to many.  He generously donated his time and money to good causes and was greatly loved.  His passing is tragic and a great loss.
