Mary Ross (nee Cliff)
Mary Ross, aged 89, died on October 17, 2024, in Montreal. Born on January 11, 1935, Mary lived a life marked by her positivity, kindness and intelligence.
A loving mother, Mary is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Derek) and her cherished nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Philip and her husband, Donald.
A physiotherapist by profession Mary graduated in 1956 from McGill returning to get her BSc in Physiotherapy once her children were in high-school. Mary was a wonderful therapist and was loved by all those she was able to help.
She will be dearly missed by her many friends. Friendships formed at Roslyn Elementary school continued throughout her life and her circle of friends widened while living at the Manoir Westmount. She treasured time spent at their chalet at Jay Peak, summers in Metis Beach and winters on Jekyll Island.
Mary found joy in many activities, especially reading, golf and bridge. She was a lifelong learner - a great addition to a trivia team and could correctly answer Jeopardy clues faster than the contestants. She was devoted to the Christian community and found strength and comfort in her faith and spirituality. Mary proudly gave back by serving on many boards; Youth Horizons, VON/Nova, CLGA and the Montreal Children’s Library.
A memorial service, with reception to follow, will be held at Mount Royal Cemetery on October 29th at 10am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary’s name to the Lois Wilson Memorial Fund (https://www.canadahelps.org/dn/104187).
