Mariette Chénard (née Ouellet)
1929 - 2025
Mariette Chénard (née Ouellet), wife of the late Jules Chénard, passed away in Montreal on January 7 at the age of 95. She was the daughter of the late Arthur Ouellet and the late Philomène Gagné.
She is survived by her children: André (Louise Boisjoly), Claire (Bruno Nantel), Hélène (Jean Paquin); her grandchildren : Guillaume (Marie-Ève), Ève (Sébastien), Alice (Alexandre), François (Josianne), Hugo (Valérie), Laurent (Stéphanie), Félix (Amy), Léo, Fabrice (Guillaume), Camille (Marie-Christine); great-grandchildren: Léanne, Victoria, Anne, Étienne, Julia, Arielle, Sophia, Mélodie, Élise, Philippe, Aurélie, Hubert.
She is also survived by her sisters: the late Albertine (the late Maurice Caron), the late Jeanne (the late Léon Landry), the late Odette (Roger Cloutier), Denise (Diogène Cloutier); her brothers: the late Léonard (Paulette Leclerc), the late Thomas (the late Émilienne Bolduc), the late Camille (the late Patricia Cloutier), the late Joseph, her sisters-in-law: the late Imelda, the late sister Catherine SBC, the late Évangéline (the late Raymond Bourgault), as well as relatives and friends.
Mariette, characterized by her quick wit, resilience and faith in God, always devoted herself to the development of children, as a kindergarten teacher and then as a catechist at Saint-Sixte parish. She was also involved in the arts, playing an active part in the development of Jeunesses musicales in Saint-Laurent. She lived a happy married life with her loving husband Jules and showed great love to her children.
The family will receive condolences on Saturday, February 1 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Urgel Bourgie Funeral Complex, 3955 Côte de Liesse Road, Saint-Laurent. A mass will follow at 12:15 p.m. at Église Saint- Sixte, 1895, rue de l'Église, corner boulevard Marcel-Laurin, Saint-Laurent.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Centre de soins palliatifs Gracia for their support and the good care they provided.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Cancer Research Society or the Gracia Foundation would be appreciated.
