Cecile Shaheen passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025, in Cowansville, Quebec, at the age of 94. Born on the Epiphany—January 6, 1931—in Montreal, Quebec, Cecile lived a vibrant life between Montreal and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, creating deep roots and lifelong connections in both places.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ibrahim and Salami (Eid) Shaheen, and by her seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by many loving cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as a circle of cherished longtime friends who will deeply feel her absence.

Cecile was a woman ahead of her time—fiercely independent, incredibly articulate and unapologetically confident. She possessed an elegance and style that made her feel timeless: regal in her presence, a stunning beauty, when she walked into a room she turned heads.  When she went out on the town, she stopped traffic.  Her command of language and storytelling was unmatched; when Cecile spoke, the room hung on her every word. Her stories, told with rich vocabulary and perfect timing, captivated all who were fortunate enough to hear them.

She was forever proud of her Lebanese heritage. She loved Lebanon for its culture, beauty, spirit and resilience.  She had a profound love for animals; especially dogs and horses.  
She was deeply connected to her faith, to the Orthodox Church and felt a special devotion to the Virgin Mary.

She spoke her mind with courage, carried herself with poise and lived life on her own terms. Cecile will be remembered not only for her sharp wit and bold spirit, but also for her warmth, her loyalty, and her lasting impact on those who knew and loved her.

Visitation on Monday, May 12, 2025 from 4pm to 6:30pm at the Mount Royal Funeral complex, 1297 chemin de la Forêt, Outremont, QC H2V2P9. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025 at 6:30pm in the chapel of the complex. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to BMP Foundation or Saint George Antiochian Orthodox church of Montreal.
