Florin Ceusan

1974 - 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Florin Ceusan on May 10, 2025, in Montreal after having fought bravely with ALS for the past six years.

Florin was born on August 19, 1974, to Augustin and Elena Ceusan in Tirgu-Mures, Transylvania County, Romania. Florin met his wife, Stefania in 1996 in Bucharest where he attended the Institute of Atomic Physics. Upon graduation he worked as a medical physicist at the Oncology Clinic in Tirgu-Mures, Romania. Florin and Stefania went on to have one son, Andrei Ceusan and together, they emigrated to Montreal, QC in 2002.

After completing his graduate studies in Medical Physics at McGill University, Florin continued his career as a medical physicist, serving many cancer patients with great compassion and professionalism at The Centre Hospitalier Regional in Trois-Rivières, QC and The Jewish General Hospital, Montreal, QC. He was also a caring colleague who gratefully appreciated the support and accommodations offered to him by the JGH team after his diagnosis.

In his free time, Florin loved spending time with his family and friends and playing boardgames, listening to music--with The Cure and U2 being some of his favourite bands, hiking, playing sports, especially soccer and basketball, reading and watching Science-Fiction, particularly the Star Wars series. At social gatherings he would be usually surrounded by children and pets, simply because he cared to pay attention to their needs. Above all, Florin was a caring son, a loving and devoted husband and father, and an awesome brother and uncle. For us all, he will be remembered as a very witty man with a good sense of (dry) humor!

Florin leaves behind his dear parents, Elena and Augustin, his lovely wife, Stefania, his dear son, Andrei, his daughter-in-law, Maria, his sister Camelia, his brother-in-law Calin, his niece, Emma and the rest of his family from Romania.

The funeral service will be held at Kane Fetterly on Friday, May 16 between 4PM-8PM in Salon B. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to ALS Quebec to help support patients affected by this condition. In memoriam online donations can be made at:
