It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ignazio Mattei, surrounded by his family, on May 14, 2024, at the age of 86.

Beloved husband of Domenica, adoring father of Anna (Roberto), Pina (John) and Nadia (Tony), and cherished Nonno of Tania (Félix), Dario (Golnar), Adamo, Stefano, Sabrina (Liamo) and James (Justine) and great-grandfather of Jack, Enzo and Olivia. Dear brother of Giuseppina, Gelsomino (predeceased), Arturo and Domenico. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, and many relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held at Kane and Fetterly, 5301 Decarie Blvd, Montreal H3W 3C4 on Monday, May 20, 2024 from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, May 21 at 10:30 a.m. at St-Monica’s Parish, 6405 Terrebonne, Montreal H4B 1A8. Private burial will take place at a later date.

The family extends special thanks to the staff of St-Mary’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Research Society or St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation.
