It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Peter Capanna, husband, father and grandfather who passed away on July 5, 2020. He will be missed by his wife Sylvia, daughter Joanne (Paul), son Nick (Giovanna) and grandchildren Jody, Ben, Sara and Emily.

Peter was born in Montreal in 1927. He loved the city and the Montreal Canadiens. He enjoyed spending hot, humid summer evenings walking along Ste. Catherine St. enjoying the crowds.

After retirement, Peter and his wife enjoyed many wonderful trips through Europe and North America.

Peter was happiest surrounded by his family and good food. He never was one to refuse a second helping of pasta or more dessert. His love of food and family and simple pleasures lives on in his children and his grandchildren.

We love you and we will miss you.

Given the current situation, the family is holding a private ceremony for Peter with a memorial service open to all, to be planned at a later date, when it is safe to travel and gather again.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff in the healthcare system who cared for Peter over the last few years and in particular the team at the CHSLD Yvon-Brunet in Ville-Emard for the most incredible care from an attentive and compassionate group in his final days.

La Fondation Santé Urbaine supports the hospitals and long-term care facilities in the South Central region of Montreal including the Ville-Emard area. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the La Fondation Santé Urbaine in memory of Peter Capanna to support these dedicated and tireless healthcare workers would be most appreciated.
