McCarthy Hector
1932 - 2025
McCarthy Hector, age 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, 13 April, 2025 at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal, Quebec. He was born 21 October, 1932 in Mt. St. George, Trinidad and Tobago to Dora Spencer and James Hector.
He married Cynthia Elizabeth Adams (deceased) on 19 December, 1964 in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. McCarthy emigrated to Canada in the early 70’s with his wife Cynthia and their three sons, Leeandre, Anthony (deceased), and Kirk (deceased). He had two Canadian born sons with Cynthia named Stacy and Ryan. He was granted Canadian citizenship in February, 1975.
McCarthy worked as a nurse orderly for the Royal Victoria Hospital and the Allen Institute until he retired. He was also an ordained minister and founded the St. Peter Spiritual Baptist Church Inc., receiving special recognition for it’s upliftment in 1992. McCarthy was known for his loving, kind, and generous spirit, he was always ready to help those in need. He was deeply spiritual and had an uncanny ability to connect with others in a positive way. He especially loved to see children and youth
prosper from wise counsel and assistance. McCarthy is survived by his sister Victorine Hector and his brother Godson Hector; by Yoland Campbell (former spouse), Camarra Campbell, Travis Jeremy Campbell Hector; by Viola Pierre (Mother) Denisha Pierre (daughter), (Oceola Pierre, Leandro, Re’niya); by Wilma Patterson (former wife), Korenza Patterson, Lorenza Patterson, Osborne Patterson, Jason Patterson Hector; by his grandchildren; Natasha, Reggie, Jamal, Maya, Jaida, and Kaden; by his great-grandchildren; Eva and Roman, and by his large extended family.
Family, friends, and others whose lives McCarthy touched are invited to attend the celebration of his life on Saturday 3 May, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 chemin de la Forêt, Outremont QC H2V2P9
