It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Margaret Barry, beloved wife of 68 years to the late Pat Barry.
Predeceased by her parents Frank and Marie (Leblanc) Thériault, and her daughter Julie Anne. Devoted and loving mother to Patrick (Diane Bachand), Stephen, Timothy (Tracey Wright). Doting grandmother to Stephen, Christopher (Gabrielle Lehrer-Brey), Artem (Maija Buckley-Pearson), Suren, Nina, and Martin. Great-grandmother to Margaret, Edward, Karl, Lucy and Edmund. Born and raised in Halifax, Margaret attended St. Mary’s and St. Patrick’s schools and worked for the Royal Bank. She moved to Montreal after her marriage, where she lived most of her life. As a mature student who graduated from McGill University, she believed in education and was an active volunteer for years with the McGill Book Fair and the Marsil Museum. Margaret hugely enjoyed teaching English as a second language for newcomers to Canada, and was an elementary school teacher for a time. She loved literature and was an avid crossworder and scrabble player.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the neurology and palliative care units of the Hôpital du Sacré Coeur in Montreal for the professional and compassionate care extended to Margaret and her family. At the family’s request, there will be a private celebration of her life. Interment in Fredericton NB.
