Karen Hicks, 77, of Victoria, BC, Canada, passed away on November 10, 2022 following a brief yet brave battle with Cancer.

Karen was born on August 23rd, 1945 to Glen & Irene Robertson in Brandon Manitoba. She attended school in Minto. Karen commenced her career in the bank in 1966 at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce Killarney MB. She retired from the Royal Bank in 2000 following 34 years of banking. In1967 she met Douglas Hicks and his sons Craig & Ken, they became a family on August 3, 1968. They had their 3rd child Rhonda in 1969 and Trevor in 1970. Karen loved being a mother and grandmother and was simply the best at it. Her greatest joy was spending time with family, she adored her grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to attend a holiday concert, school play, graduation or sporting event. Doug & Karen lived in a number of communities throughout the years, including Killarney, Morden, Winkler, Deloraine, Medora and Boissevain. They moved to Victoria BC in October of 2015. Karen was an active member of her communities and they made many wonderful friends along the way.

Karen is predeceased by her parents Glen & Irene, in-laws George & Grace, brother Roy & grandson Derrian. She is survived by her loving husband Doug, children Craig(Janet), Ken(Shelly), Rhonda(Fabien), Trevor (Cheri), grandchildren Hayley, Kennedy, Kaylan, Brittany, McKenzie, Elsa, Axel-Lee, Morgan, Sara(Tim), great grandchildren Ella and Jackson, her loving sister Marg(Stan) Kozak, niece Jennifer(Brent) and nephews Dean(Erin), Matthew(Jen), and their children. Many friends and extended family members will dearly miss her. The family would like to thank Dr. Stamp Vincent, his staff and the Community Palliative care team especially mom’s nurse Lance for their compassionate care and support throughout her illness.
