Obituary

June Isabella Pelton (née Adamson)

1927 - 2024

June Isabella Adamson Pelton of Pierrefonds, passed away on October 9, 2024 at the Lakeshore General Hospital. She was 97.

June was born on June 2, 1927 in Montreal to Ella Gertrude Adamson (née Bush) and James Kilgour Black Adamson. She grew up in Côte-des-Neiges and attended finishing school before marrying John Patrick Hogan and giving birth to their daughter, Linda Suzane Hogan Kemerer.

She went on to do secretarial work from the 1940s through 70s and primarily worked as the office administrator for Roy Folland.

June later married Donald Stephen Pelton (Steve) and they lived in Pierrefonds for more than 40 years. They would often host Holiday dinners in their home and had a weekly sleepover with their granddaughter. They were long standing members of both Brownsburg Golf Club and La Cité Golf Club in Hawkesbury where they would spend their retirement with various groups of friends throughout the week.

June was always full of life and never let her opinions be left unsaid. No funny business, as she would say. She was an avid crossword puzzler and would call up her friends and family every week to complete the Saturday edition in the Montreal Gazette.

After she eventually stopped golfing, she was adamant about keeping in shape and became a fixture at her local gym, working out in what she called "her baggys" alongside the "young whippersnappers". When it came to dancing, and it often did, the jitterbug and the boogie were the only rhythms she considered acceptable, everything else "lacked a beat".

There wasn't a family gathering that didn't end with a raucous rendition of Shine On Harvest Moon, with June in the middle conducting with her pointer finger.

After Steve's passing in 2002, June eventually relocated to the Manoir in Hudson to be closer to her family before transferring to a full-care residence at the end of 2018.

June suffered a stroke in 2019 and was fortunate to spend her last years under the loving care of Bibi Alli at the Marceau Residence in Pierrefonds. The family is so grateful for the kindness, patience and love that was given by Bibi and Clifford, their family and team from the CLSC.

June is survived by her loving daughter Linda and son-in-law Robert (Bob), her granddaughter Sarah, grandson-in-law Eric and great-granddaughter Nia.

A funeral service will be held at St-Mary's Church in Hudson, 261 Rue Main, Hudson, QC J0P 1H0, on Thursday, October 17th at 4:30 pm.

A private interment for family members will be held the following day at Mount-Royal Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to Steve, her mother Gertrude and Aunt May.
