1937 - 2024

In the early morning of March 18, our wonderful mother passed away. Paul, her companion and best friend of 48 years, was, of course, by her side. We should all be so fortunate to have someone as devoted and loving as Paul in our lives.

Barbara leaves behind her partner Paul, her children Ellen, Caroline (Cesare), and Andrew (Marnie), her granddaughters Maya, Emma, Amelia, and Isabelle, her brother Eddie (Kris), her sister Elizabeth (Paul), her nieces, and nephew, and many close friends. Her sister Joan passed away in 2005; a loss Barbara felt deeply. And we can't forget her loving and loyal cat, Wilma. Where Mom was, Wilma was.

Barbara was known for her warmth, kindness, generosity, integrity, humility, and humour. Her passing has left us with an overwhelming sadness, but we take comfort in knowing that she lived a happy and fulfilled life. She had a career she loved, travelled, and enjoyed many carefree mornings and afternoons on her balcony drinking coffee or wine, reading, and people-watching. She also hosted the most wonderful Christmas dinners. Family meant everything to her, and her granddaughters were her pride and joy. They will miss her unwavering love and always remember their Friday night dinners with Grandma and Paul.

Although 2023 was a challenging year, Barbara showed remarkable strength, dignity, and positivity. She didn't think of herself as strong, but she was. We would like to express our gratitude towards the palliative team, specifically Alison Quinn, Jill Tom, Paula Habib, and Dr. Golda Tradounsky. Their compassion and care made an otherwise unbearable situation a little more bearable.

A service will be held on May 12 at 2 p.m. at Kane & Fetterly located at 5301 Decarie in Montreal. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be made to Frontier Animal Society (www.safas.ca) or a charity of your choice.
