Pierre Mondor

1939 - 2024

We regret to inform you of the death of Mr Pierre Mondor, who passed away peacefully on 14 August 2024, after a long battle with cancer.

For a large part of his life, he lived for almost 20 years with his beloved wife, Lyane, who predeceased him in 2021. He is survived by his daughter-in-law Isabel-Ann and his son-in-law Ludovic LEPLATOIS, as well as their three sons, Jérôme, Victor and Arthur, whom he saw born and loved as his grandsons and who filled him with their graces.

He is also survived by his granddaughter Rafaelle and grandson Philippe, whom he missed for too long.

He also leaves his beloved MONDOR family: Catherine who predeceased him (the late Michel PLANTE), Louise (Pierre DUBOIS), Claire (Richard SÉGUIN), Jacques (Louise DÉCARIE) and finally Françoise (Mona TURNER); as well as beloved nieces and nephews: Carl DUBOIS (Isabelle), Isabelle DUBOIS (Paul), Amélie MONDOR, Marc-André SÉGUIN (Caroline) and Marie-Claude SÉGUIN (Dino), Stéphane (Isabelle) and Sébastien (Cristina) RUFFO, as well as Romanie (Jason) and Zoë (Rommel) VERNHAM, and finally many grand-nephews and nieces.

He also leaves close and dear cousins Lepage, people of the river, like his late mother, Andrée, originally from Lévis and the Lepage family from Rimouski. He also leaves his late father Ovide, from Lanoraie, whose ancestors were called Mont-d'or in Alsace-Lorraine.

In 2023, fate and chance brought him back to Michelle TROY, a first and vibrant love from the 80s, whom he married after 40 years, and who, along with his dear Thierry (Josée) and Katherine (Martin) LEMERCIER, (Zara and Alizée, and little Mila), showered him with their affection and tenderness.

He also leaves dear friends: Nicole CLÉMENT (Émile) and many others along the way, such as Marlène RAE (Pierre), and faithful colleagues, such as Gilles CHAREST (the late Lise), Richard CHASSÉ (the late Sylvie), Sophie BEAUCHEMIN (Réjean) and Denis Laberge (Anne-Marie), others from the province's Municipal Courts. And many others, as long as I can remember, such as Albert LABRÈCHE (Johanne), Jacques FOURNIER (Suzanne) and Lise AUBUCHON (the late Paul), Gilles BOISVERT and Louise GIRARD, Sigrid and Gilles CHATEL. And in recent years, Sylvie and Alain NOËL, Margaret and Ronald DRENNAN and Filomène and Pierre LAPLANTE.

He spent his entire youth in Saint-Laurent, starting at the little Beaudet school, both in the Leisure Department and at the Collège de Saint-Laurent, and became a lawyer in 1964 after studying at the Université de Montréal.

After obtaining degrees in Advanced Studies and Comparative Law, he turned to a commercial and corporate law practice. He was then called upon as a municipal judge, where he worked concurrently in several municipalities, in addition to his practice. He ended his career as President of the Municipal Court of the City of Montreal.

In 2008, he and his wife, Lyane, who had previously worked in publishing at Québec Loisirs, retired to Sainte-Adèle. Despite their early years of successful travel and sporting activities, surrounded by their respective families and many friends, they lost their quality of life, each suffering from cancer of a different origin.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Laurentian Hospital in Sainte-Agathe, where he was followed and cared for with compassion and kindness by the staff of the Oncology Unit, as well as his family doctor, Dr Pierre LAPOINTE, who was so clear-sighted, and his assistant Valérie, who were always present and devoted.

All his loved ones will be able to pay their last respects on Sunday, September 8 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Urgel Bourgie Funeral Complex, located at 3955 Chem. Côte-de-Liesse, H4N 2N6, 514 735 2025.

As a follower of the great classical composers, you can still talk with him by listening to Franz LISZT's Hungarian Rhapsody No. 4.

Donations in his memory can be made to the Fondation médicale des Laurentides et des Pays-d'en-Haut, at the following e-mail address: info@fondationmedicale.com
