Obituary
Daniel Leo
1981 - 2024
Daniel Leo (Liau Thon-Son), age 43, of Montreal, passed away on December 28, 2024, in his
family home in Lachine. He was born on May 26, 1981, to Thomas Leo and Eva Ng in Montreal,
Quebec.
Known by most people as Danny, he was beloved by everyone who knew him, and brought joy
and laughter to countless people.
Not only did he excel academically through hard work and determination, but he also had a
heart of gold while growing up, becoming friends with almost everyone he met.
Having graduated from Concordia University in 2005 with a Bachelors in Communication
Studies and Human Relations, Danny went on to work as a production assistant for several
different filming companies before finding a place at ICC Compliance Center in 2013, where he
continued to work until his passing.
He is survived by his two younger brothers (Jonathan Leo–Liau, and Solomon Leo), as well as
his step-mother (Gui Fen Zhang).
If you were to ask those who knew him how they would describe him, they would say that he
was funny, intelligent, quirky, creative, amazing, loving, a great leader, a best friend, and like a
brother. No matter how bad your day was going, he would always be there to bring a smile to
someone’s face.
He was known for being an avid hockey and wrestling fan. The only things that might have
trumped his love for hockey and wrestling were his love for food, board games, and the time
spent with friends and family.
Danny was passionate about many things. He cared deeply about the environment, women’s
rights, and helping others. For the past four to five years, he spent his evenings helping out at
Ôra Café & Cocktail, a bar owned by one of his close friends. It was here where he found a
sense of belonging and purpose.
We are truly saddened by his recent passing, but his memory will live on in our hearts. May he
rest in peace.
