In Loving Memory

Loretta Shamie (nee Dashy)

November 29, 1926 – March 4, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Loretta Shamie, who left us peacefully at the age of 98. A loving mother to Lynda (Carmine Starnino), Diane, Sandra (Ken Khoury), grandmother to Erica and Anthony Starnino, Samantha (David) and Max Côté, Jason (Camille), Ryan (Rachel) and Kevin Khoury, great-grandmother to Leo Khoury and treasured auntie to many nieces and nephews.  

She was a loving wife to the late Michael Shamie and is survived by her beloved sisters, Marie Dovas and Lily Ivos and in-laws Norman and Adele, George and Nora, Emile and Georgia, and Christine Shamie.

Our dear mother was the heart and soul of our family and the foundation of our love. Her greatest joy was bringing us together, ensuring we remained close, filling our lives with warmth, wisdom, and the most delicious Lebanese meals every Sunday at "Sito’s."

A woman of strength and determination, she built a remarkable career in real estate, earning top awards throughout her life. Yet, her true success was in the family she nurtured. She taught us the value of hard work, the importance of saving for a rainy day, and the power of a welcoming home, where there was always room for one more at her table. Her faith was strong, and she found comfort in her church and her personal altar, where she prayed for the well-being of those she loved.

Her kindness, beauty, and infectious smile left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her legacy of love, hospitality, and togetherness will live on in all of us.

She will be dearly missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Though she is no longer with us, we take comfort in knowing she is at peace, forever watching over the family.

May her memory be eternal.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, from 3 to 9 pm at:

Urgel Bourgie Funeral Complex, 1255 Avenue Beaumont, Mont-Royal, QC H3P 3H9

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 10 am at:

St George Orthodox Church of Montreal, 575 Jean Talon E., Montreal, Qc, H2R 1T8

The burial will follow at the Mount Royal Cemetery 1297 Foret Rd, Outremont, Quebec H2V 2P9
