It is with great sadness and no regrets that we announce the most peaceful passing of Malcolm, father to Joan, father-in-law to Stephen Starr and grandfather to Shaun Starr.

The eldest of eight children he was born in Brooklyn, New York and leaves behind his sisters Ellen Jane and Adele.  Pre-deceased by his loving wife Patricia Downie, his parents Mary Ellen Miller & John McCambridge, brothers Tommy, Johnny, Eugene, Charles and sister AnnaMay; and a vast array of family across Canada and the US.

Malcolm was a large part of Montreal’s music scene from the 1940’s until May 2022. Playing for the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Grenadier Guards in 57/58, the Campbell Concerts in the parks and The Big Band Club Dances, 306 Air Force and the Army & Navy reserve bands, marching in the St. Patrick’s Day and Santa Claus Parades for decades, Kirkland & Lachine City bands in the parks and the Paul Houde Band.

A long happy and successful career of over 45 years at Montreal Engineering.

He loved sailing, raising canaries and time at the country house at Lake L’Achigan and considerable time traveling with his wife Pat by his side.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at the CHSLD West Island Manor. Their friendships, special compassion and care will never be forgotten.

The family will receive condolences at the Urgel Bourgie Funeral Complex - Athos; 3955 Cote de Liesse (corner of St. Croix), Ville St. Laurent.
