In Loving Memory of Mrs. Fofo Gaytanidu Karavul

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mrs. Fofo Gaytanidu Karavul, age 86, of Montreal, Quebec, who left us on the morning of Holy Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Maisonneuve Rosemount Hospital. Born on March 7, 1939, Fofo, a name of endearment, was also known as "Güler," meaning "rose" in Turkish—a fitting tribute to her beauty and the love she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Fofo lived her faith alongside her husband, Kerim Emmanuel Karavul, who actively participated in their parish community. Her life was a testament to love, compassion, and unwavering belief in God, the Father Almighty.

A lifelong learner, Fofo had an insatiable curiosity. She loved reading the daily newspaper and exploring books on history, medicine, cooking, and travel. Her passion for adventure took her to many beautiful places, from Europe and Mexico to the Caribbean, Hawaii, and across the United States, creating cherished memories with her four children on countless road trips.

A devoted fan of the Montreal Canadiens, Fofo also enjoyed her favorite soap operas, including As the World Turns, The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, General Hospital, and Days of Our Lives. We can imagine her in heaven, keeping up with Dancing with the Stars and American Idol.

Fofo's culinary skills delighted family and friends alike, and she loved hosting gatherings filled with laughter and card games. On special occasions, she would unwind with a nightcap of Irish cream, Amaretto, or Cognac.

Her ability to connect with others brought joy and warmth to everyone around her. Fofo's absence leaves a profound void in the hearts of her children—Violet, Daniel, Elizabeth, and Elina—as well as her grandchildren, Vanessa, Sabrina, Emmanuel, and Lisa, along with her sons- and daughters-in-law, friends, and countless others whose lives she touched.

We invite you to honor Fofo's memory by cherishing her radiant smile, infectious laughter, and her unwavering dedication to living a life filled with love and kindness.
