It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mrs. Danielle Grégoire on May 7, 2025, at her home, surrounded by family members.
She is mourned by her husband Claude Garcia, her sons Bernard and Stéphane, as well as her sister Lise (Luc Bissonnette) and her brother Guy (Claudette Boily), her sister-in-law Monique, and her brothers-in-law Daniel (Aline Lavertu) and Paul (Marie Carrier), along with her nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and close friends.
Danielle was a generous and endearing woman who surrounded herself with people who helped her fulfill her professional obligations while she remained steadfastly and lovingly devoted to the well-being and education of her two sons.
After successfully defending her master’s thesis on the history of education in Quebec at King’s College, University of London, Danielle embarked on a long career dedicated to the management of youth education in Quebec. She held various positions, including Assistant to the Dean of the Faculty of Education and Assistant to the Rector at Université Laval. She was later appointed Secretary General of Collège Édouard-Montpetit, and concluded her professional career as Academic Dean at Cégep de Rosemont. She was also a member of the Conseil des collèges du Québec. After retirement, she volunteered for many years as a guide at the Musée des métiers d’art du Québec.
The family will receive condolences at the Urgel Bourgie Funeral Complex, 1255 Beaumont Avenue, Mont-Royal, on June 20, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on June 21, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the Dominican Chapel, 2715 Chemin de la Côte-Sainte-Catherine, Montreal. A religious ceremony celebrating Danielle’s life will follow at 10:30 a.m.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of a donation to the Danielle Grégoire Fund of the CHUM Foundation, supporting research into hepatobiliary and urologic cancers.
Danielle received excellent care throughout her illness thanks to the staff at CHUM, Groupe Axio, CLSC Métro, Nova Home Care, Aux Trois Sentiers, and The Key agency. The family offers its sincere thanks to them.
