It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine Papageorgiou (Sarena) at the age of 91 from a stroke.

Catherine was predeceased by her husband Antoine Sarena, her common law spouse George Mitilias and his son Demetri Mitilias.

Beloved mother of Chris Sarena (Rita), beloved grandmother to Vanessa, step-grandmother to Anabel, Juliet, Oksana and Stephanie and step-mother to Eoanna and John (Diane). She also leaves to mourn many other relatives and friends near and far.

Catherine was born in Alexandria, Egypt and moved to Montreal November 1963. She started working at Mercantile Bank as a teller and moved into an executive position as a foreign exchange manager within the first 10 years. Catherine was a strong and independent woman who was ahead of her time in the banking world. She travelled to New York often as she was an expert in SWIFT technology and gave presentations to bankers at CityCorp & Chase Bank

Catherine's nickname was (Chatty Cathy) as she was always the light in any room she entered. She was a great soul who made friends easily and kept them for a lifetime. She will be dearly missed..Love you Ketty.
