Erla Blandeen Sandiford, née Hewitt, passed away August 29, 2022. She is preceded in death by her husband Marcus Evelyn Sandiford, brother Edward Rudolph Hewitt, parents George Delbert and Rhoda Isabella (Hunte) Hewitt, and is survived by her loving children Calvin, Patrick, Robert, and Sharon as well as daughters-in-law Bethalie, Erika and Delores, son-in-law Raymond, and grandchildren Corwin, Jonathan, William, James, Aeryn, and Matthew.

Erla Blandeen Sandiford, née Hewitt, passed away August 29, 2022. She is preceded in death by her husband Marcus Evelyn Sandiford, brother Edward Rudolph Hewitt, parents George Delbert and Rhoda Isabella (Hunte) Hewitt, and is survived by her loving children Calvin, Patrick, Robert, and Sharon as well as daughters-in-law Bethalie, Erika and Delores, son-in-law Raymond, and grandchildren Corwin, Jonathan, William, James, Aeryn, and Matthew.

She also leaves to mourn her sisters-in-law Fay, Grace, Hazel, Rose, and Thelma, nieces, nephews and cousins, and many other close relatives and friends. Born in Barbados December 9, 1933, she was a woman of strong moral convictions, a social activist, a fighter, a loving wife, mother and grandmother who found it easy to help others. She enjoyed a good laugh, stories and storytelling. She was a traveller and later in life took up the steelpan, having always had a love of calypso music. She had a long career in nursing and was involved in many community organizations. She was active in her church, St. Lawrence Anglican Church in LaSalle; having been one of the founding members, and worshipped there for over 50 years.

Visitation will be at Urgel Bourgie-Feron/Athos Funeral Home, 1275 Dollard Ave., LaSalle, Quebec, on Friday, September 16, from 2 to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM.
The funeral service will be at St. Lawrence Anglican Church, 520 75th Ave., LaSalle, Quebec, on Saturday, September 17, at 10 AM, with internment to follow at 1 PM at Rideau Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 4239 Boulevard des Sources, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec.

Offerings of flowers can be sent to the funeral home listed above. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made to St. Lawrence Anglican Church in her memory. A reception at Rideau Memorial Gardens will follow the burial.

The family is asking that attendees wear masks during the indoor events and follow COVID-19 precautions at all times.
