On January 14, 2025, Ezzat Nabih Raphael passed away in Montreal. Born in Egypt in November 1937 to Lebanese parents Nabih and Mathilde ElHage. He immigrated to Canada in May 1964, where he met the love of his life, his wife Elisabeth Moscovakis- Raphael, deceased since 2004.

On January 14, 2025, Ezzat Nabih Raphael passed away in Montreal. Born in Egypt in November 1937 to Lebanese parents Nabih and Mathilde ElHage. He immigrated to Canada in May 1964, where he met the love of his life, his wife Elisabeth Moscovakis- Raphael, deceased since 2004. 


He is survived by his two children, Joseph (Valérie) and Natacha. And his grandchildren, Charlotte, Olivia, Adam and Andrew. 


The second of five brothers, he is survived by his brother Esmat (Jeannette). He joins his departed brothers Adel (Nohad), Effat (Mona), and Atef (Nicole) in heaven. Also survived by all his nieces and nephews, Elias, George, Mathilde, Aline, Arlette, Anne-Marie, Natalie, Magalie, and Maged.


A graduate of Hautes-Études-Commerciales de Montréal, he held the position of Director at Scotiabank for over 25 years. A natural leader with great charisma, Ezzat was not only a Scout Chief but also very involved in the Christian community both in the Middle East and in Canada. He was a founding member of the Club Cercle Héliopolis, where the Egyptian, and even Lebanese, community gathered to celebrate their native culture. A great people person, he was always ready to serve, to help and was very generous to all. 


Relatives and friends are invited to join in mourning together, and to pay their respects, on Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., at the Mausolée (back building) of the Mémoria, located at 2159, boul. Saint-Martin East in Laval.


The funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at Église Notre-Dame de l'Annonciation, located at 9501 Boulevard Gouin Ouest in Pierrefonds. Followed by burial ceremony at Mount Royal Cemetery, 1297 Chemin de la Forêt, Outremont.


In replacement of offering flowers, you may consider making a donation to the church, Église Notre-Dame de l'Annonciation.
