Obituary

Susyn Eileen Borer

1948 - 2024

Susyn passed away peacefully at the Jewish General Hospital on April 9, 2024. Her devoted husband Donald Berry was by her side, as he was for their 46 years of marriage. She was an endlessly caring mother to her two sons, Michael (Tamara) and Paul (Katie). Nothing brought her more joy than time with her granddaughters Helen, Isla and Layla. Beloved sister of Leonard (Linda) Borer. She was the loving daughter of Julius and Sophie Borer.

She will be greatly missed by her nieces, nephews, and cousins all across North America. Her many friends and colleagues were always an integral part of her life.

Susyn spent her entire professional life in the education field: as a teacher, union staff member, and school administrator. Through this work, her impact was far and wide. She touched the lives of countless Montrealers and she will live on through all of her former students. After her retirement, Susyn spent a great deal of time volunteering, by joining the board of directors of various local institutions that were close to her heart.

Special thanks to all the dedicated health care professionals who helped care for her as she fell into ill health these past two years.

The family will receive condolences in the chapel of the Mount-Royal funeral complex (1297 chemin de la forêt, Outremont) Friday April 19th from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M. and a service will follow. The burial will take place after the service in the Mount Royal cemetery. The shiva will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Montreal Holocaust Museum would be greatly appreciated: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/10145
