Obituary

Sally Ogden (née Farmer)

1940 - 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our beloved Sally, who left us on Saturday, July 13th, 2024.

Sally was a loyal wife, devoted mother and especially grandmother. She leaves behind her husband of 61 years, David, as well as her children Michèle (Adam), Heather (Josh) and Jaime. She will be missed by her grandchildren Alexandra (Andy), Cathryn, Elsie, Grace, Kashton, Nathan and Oliver.

Sally was born in Hove, Sussex, England to Elsie May and John Farmer. She and her two sisters, the late Anne Hamilton and the late Polly Mitchell remained close their entire lives and will be fondly remembered as the legendary Farmer Girls.

Sally came to Canada in 1962 and planned to stay for a year or so, living with her sister Anne on Peel Street in Montreal. However, she met a handsome young man named David Ogden, they fell in love and she spent the rest of her days in Canada. She loved her life in Montreal and especially her friends in Senneville and the West Island, but she never forgot about her family back in England and she never made peace with Canadian winters.

She was dedicated to caring for her family. Her zest for life and love of family and friends vastly improved the lives of everyone she met, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Sally was a pillar of the St. George’s Anglican Church in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue for 19 years, where she kept the work of the church in good administrative order and served as a faithful congregant and informal counselor to the ministers of St. George’s.

Sally will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of resilience and strength that will continue to inspire us all. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will live on in the memories we hold dear.

We wish to honor and thank the staff of Sunrise of Beaconsfield for their unfailing kindness and care of Sally in her final months.

A celebration of Sally's life will be held at the Belvedere Cemetery and Funeral Complex in Senneville, 22025 Trans-Canada Highway, Senneville, Quebec on Sunday, July 21st, 2024. There will be a visitation at 10:30 am, with a service at 12:30 pm. Reception to follow.
