Keith Edmund Morgan
1934-2024
Keith Edmund Morgan was born in North Bay, Ontario in 1934 and was raised in an orphanage in Quebec City. As an adult he lived in Sherbrooke, St-Lambert, Quebec City, St-Bruno, Montreal, Ottawa, North Hatley and Nun's Island.
Keith is survived by his loving wife, Gisèle (Boivin) Morgan from Sherbrooke, his children Richard (Maureen Murphy) and Louise, and granddaughters Bianca Vicars and Emma Makin.
Keith was a wonderful and supportive husband, father and amazing grandfather.
As a young man, Keith played junior hockey and baseball for Quebec City, held a record in track and field for the mile run, played football and hockey at Quebec High, and served as a lieutenant in the Canadian Army readying to be deployed at the end of the Korean War. Keith joined Bell Canada in Montreal, where he worked for 31 years in sales and marketing. Before his retirement, he served the Government of Canada as Vice Chairman of the National Parole Board of Canada.
He played key roles in the elections of Prime Ministers Joe Clark and Brian Mulroney. It was in his senior advisory role for the North Shore with the Rt. Hon. Brian Mulroney that Keith oversaw several economic development projects, including the Port of Sept-Iles, Aluminerie Alouette and the Port Cartier Penitentiary.
Keith led a full, active and impactful life, serving his different communities in various leadership and volunteer roles, from minor hockey, professional baseball, Chambers of Commerce, Lions Club and his beloved Anglican Church.
Though Keith was a champion at promoting people, teams and numerous causes, he was a very humble and modest person. He was there to serve, advise and get things done, and shied away from any sort of personal honours or attention.
In his unassuming way with his incredible kindness, a genuine curiosity and love for people, Keith left his mark on the many communities, organizations, and people he got to know throughout his life in business, sports, service clubs, politics and with his Church. He will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved him.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Verdun Hospital for their exemplary care and attention, in particular Drs. Beaudry, Roy and Villeneuve and their teams.
A funeral service followed by reception will be held on Friday, December 20th at 3pm at St. George’s Anglican Church, 1001 ave. des Canadiens-de-Montréal, Montréal, QC H3B 3B3. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Montreal Heart Institute https://fondationicm.org/en/how-to-donate/
