It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Philippe Bélanger on December 12, 2024. He is survived by his wife, Stéphanie Chevalier, their children, Alexis, Thomas and Marianne, his mother, Stéphane Matte (late Michel Bélanger), his sister Caroline (Jean-Philippe), his brother, Frédérick (Annick), parents, nephews and nieces.

After a long and distinguished career as a lawyer with the firm McCarthy Tétrault, Philippe was appointed Judge of the Superior Court, Montreal Division, in 2020. He also co-founded the Collectif Bienvenue to help asylum seekers. Philippe forged great friendships in all spheres of his rich and full life; he leaves behind countless close friends.

The family will welcome family and friends for a celebration of life on January 9 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Salon Urbain, Place des Arts. Tributes will be held from 5 to 6 p.m.
